About
- Pleasant Hills
|
|
This aptly named village whilst small in size (population of 39) contains
much interesting history.
Located 37km from Lockhart, 34km from Henty and 85km from Albury, the surrounding area with its rolling hills is particularly picturesque. The unusual entrance into the Recreation Ground and tennis courts was built by the locals as a reminder of how bags were stacked in the old days. The hessian bags were treated then filled with cement, on them are the names of local properties. A list of those properties is displayed in the hall. The folk at Pleasant Hills are a dedicated community who continuously work towards the betterment of their village. They have been acknowledged by the Keep Australia Beautiful Council on five occasions in the past few years. They've received Awards for the Lutheran Cemetery, Public Hall, The Esplanade and the Hotel. There is a locally owned shop/post office with Groceries and small goods available. |
